WHAT YOU CAN DO NEXT (After Salvation)?

Here are a few suggestions for some actions you can take now. Of course, these are only our suggestions, but many times new Christians just don't know where start. We pray that you find these suggestions useful:

Make The Right Daily Choices
Understand the "Kingdom of God"
Get a Bible
Look For a Church
Enjoy the Journey

MAKE THE RIGHT DAILY CHOICES

Many say that, because of Adam, we are born into a "sin nature". This is true to a point. That point being your salvation. Once you are saved, and become serious about living a Christian life, you will not "want" to sin. Sinning is a "choice"! If you slow your life down a bit, you will start to notice when you are about to commit a sin. Before you go through with that sin, you have the CHOICE to go ahead or "just say no". Everything in life is a choice. Yes, bad things can happen that are out of your control, but how you handle yourself in those times ARE YOUR CHOICE. Therefore, after your salvation if you continue to sin it is your choice, and you will not reap the benefits of the "Kingdom of God".

UNDERSTAND THE "KINGDOM OF GOD"

There are two biblical phrases that get mixed up frequently. They are "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Kingdom of God". Let's see if we can understand the basic difference of the two. "Kingdom of Heaven" is actually a place: Heaven. It is where God is sitting on his throne, with Jesus sitting at His right side. The "Kingdom of God" is a way of being. It is best explained in Matthew 6:33. Here is the King James Version as well as the Amplified Version (for clarification):
KJV: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Amp: "But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides."

As you can see, the phrase "kingdom of God" is how we should be attempting to live here on earth. Everything we do should be according to His way of doing and being right.

GET A BIBLE

We strongly suggest that you find or purchase a bible, and start reading. You need to get to know Jesus, and the New Testament is the perfect place to start learning about Him. There is absolutly no substitute to reading God's word for yourself. There are many versions published, and all are good. If you need a suggestion, in our opinion, the best version is the King James Version, but many people have trouble with the "thee's and thou's". The Amplified version seeks to reveal the full richness of the underlying Greek and Hebrew, and often reveals insights that you might miss in reading a more conventional translation. If you would like the best of both, try looking at a Parallel Bible which contains both versions, side by side.

LOOK FOR A CHURCH

We also strongly suggest that you look for a good Bible-based church in your area. All Christians, especially newly-born Christians, need support, guidance, and great teaching. Many people ask "how to know a particular church is where God wants you". The best answer is - God will let you know. You will feel good about attending, you will feel comforted, and most importantly, you'll understand the teaching. If we may make a couple suggestions while you are seeking for a church: it is very important that the preaching not only is biblical, but also that you are highly encouraged to bring your bible to services with you. The person standing at the pulpit really is only human. Humans will make mistakes - GOD NEVER DOES! Also, you will quickly figure out if the church is teaching only biblical principles, and not adding man-made "laws".

While you are searching we would like to suggest a couple resources that are available on television and the internet. Of course, there are many, many resources, but the following are 2 of our most favorite:

The first is Joyce Meyer. This woman is a tell-it-like-it-is preacher. She has gone through many trials and tribulations in her lifetime, so she is well qualified to teach us how to apply God's Word to our everyday life. Her show "Enjoying Everyday Life" can be found on multiple television channels at many times of the day throughout the United States and the world. You can also find her television and radio podcasts on her website: www.joycemeyer.org.

The second we suggest is www.wccowboychurch.org. Cory and Jaime Ross are the pastors at the Williamson County Cowboy Church just outside of Austin, Texas. Pastor Cory is a real-time cowboy, being a professional team roper himself. Not only does he pastor the people in this church, he also travels around the country preaching the Good News at high school, college and professional rodeos. His style of teaching the uncompromised Word of God is down-to-earth, fun, exciting and never sugar-coated. The website contains a section where you can either listen or download their sermons.

ENJOY THE JOURNEY

The person who said, "It's not the destination, it's the journey", must have been talking about Salvation. Once you are saved - you already know your destination: Heaven. While you are on this earth, you get to enjoy the journey.

The walk that you are about to take with God will be a wonderfully satisfying and gratifying life-long trip. However, don't expect your life to change immediately. Just remember it's a "journey" and enjoy every moment. If we all became Christ-like right away, we would not appreciate the gift. But, if we work at it, and see the changes in ourselves, little by little, we can feel the gratification of our successes with God.

If you would like to, please send us a note letting us know that you were saved through this website. We would love to hear from you.
