Do We Really Believe Him
By: Joanne Lowe
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
Mark 11: 22 – 24 King James Version
I wonder if we really believe Jesus when He tells us “Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” If we do believe Him then we need to start living like we believe Him. I receive a lot of emails from people who tell me that they have been praying for their families to be saved for years but they still are not saved.
Do we really believe that Jesus will save our families or do we doubt it? O we might say that we believe it but in our hearts, we have doubts. Someone told me in an email when he was telling me about a member of his family “This person will never change.” Because of our unbelief, we may be the reason that our families haven’t accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour.
I think that sometimes we forget how far Jesus has brought us and what He delivered us from when we were lost and on our way to hell. If Jesus can save us, He can save our families. All of us who have invited the Christ of Calvary into our hearts to be our personal Saviour were nothing but dirty rotten sinners on our way to hell until the precious blood of Jesus cleansed us from our sins and gave us a new heart and a new life.
There is nothing that is too hard for Jesus. He can do anything. He can take the most hardened heart and melt it and fill it with unconditional love and compassion for others. I know that He can do this because He did it for me. I not only didn’t love people; I didn’t like them. I didn’t trust anybody and I certainly didn’t want to be around people. However, on that glorious day when the Saviour of the world put His arms of compassion around me and whispered softy and tenderly in my ear “I love you, Joanne” my heart was changed. He melted my hardened heart of selfishness and filled it with concern for others.
When you pray, do you really believe that your prayers will be answered or do you doubt it? Step out in faith and trust Jesus. What He says; He will do. You can depend on Jesus because He never fails. The prayer of all of our hearts should be “Lord, help thou mine unbelief” (Mark 9: 24). Jesus has told us to have faith in God. Do you have faith in God or do you doubt Him?
